Open positions and how to apply
We welcome motivated trainees and collaborators who want to work at the intersection of quantitative proteomics, cell biology, and disease mechanism.
The lab is actively recruiting.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build a new research program from its earliest stage, with room to shape projects, take real ownership, and publish first-author work. We are currently looking for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and rotation students.
What we look for
The lab brings together wet-lab biochemistry, mass-spectrometry proteomics, and computational analysis. The strongest applicants are curious about more than one of these areas and are eager to learn the others. No single background is required, and we welcome applicants from molecular biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and computational backgrounds. What matters most is rigor, persistence, and a genuine interest in how signaling complexes govern cell fate.
Graduate students
Prospective PhD students should apply through the relevant University of Iowa graduate program and are encouraged to arrange a laboratory rotation. Students in the lab take ownership of a project that spans experimental design, proteomic data generation, and analysis, and are supported in presenting at national meetings and publishing first-author work. Postdoctoral researchers
We consider postdoctoral applicants who hold a doctoral degree and have a track record in one or more of proteomics, mass spectrometry, protein biochemistry, cell biology, or computational biology. Postdocs are mentored toward independence, with the goal of building a distinct research program and a competitive record for the next career stage. Undergraduate and rotation students
Undergraduates and rotating graduate students are welcome and are paired with a mentor and a well-scoped project. Reach out early, since positions are limited by available bench space and mentoring capacity.
Collaborators
We partner with laboratories that want to apply proximity-labeling proteomics to their own systems, and with groups developing complementary methods. If your question involves the composition or dynamics of a protein complex in a disease model, we would be glad to talk.
